Hailing from Diverse Roots 
Jesse has a rich and varied background, having been born in Madison, WI, spent most of his life in Louisville, KY, and now resides in Nashville, TN. This diverse upbringing has shaped his resilient and adaptive nature, which he brings to his work every day at HealthLock. 

An Unofficial Title with Official Impact 
While Jesse has many titles, he is a HealthLock Account Manager, and his impact is unequivocal. He manages accounts and leads the team assigned to work on those accounts, overseeing around 2,000 lives. Jesse ensures quality control, making sure every client receives the best possible service. “Managing accounts is more than just a job; it’s about ensuring every individual under our care is protected and valued,” Jesse says. 

A Decade of Service 
Jesse has been with HealthLock for ten years, a testament to his dedication and passion for the company’s mission. Over the years, he has become a cornerstone of the team, known for his unwavering commitment to the clients and the organization. 

Best Customer Moment: A Triumph of Advocacy 
One of Jesse’s most memorable moments at HealthLock involves a client who lost coverage when their plan was discontinued by the carrier. The patient, battling cancer, suddenly found themselves without coverage. Jesse, with his team, involved the broker and multiple representatives with BCBS, but initially, they faced refusal to allow the family to enroll in a new plan. “I filed an appeal asking for an exception, and it was granted. The family received retroactive coverage to January 1st,” Jesse recalls with pride. This story highlights his relentless advocacy for patients in dire situations. 

Vision for Healthcare Reform
Given a magic wand, Jesse would release many medications as over-the-counter and change insurance policies to cover these medications. He would also place a larger emphasis on preventative medicine. “Preventative care is crucial; it can save lives and reduce healthcare costs significantly,” he believes. 

Passion for Patient Advocacy
Jesse’s motivation stems from a desire to stop carriers and providers from taking advantage of patients. He enjoys working to maximize value for the patient, ensuring they are not left to navigate the complex healthcare system alone. “People don’t understand insurance. The carriers and providers both take advantage of the system to push more costs onto the patient,” he notes. His goal is to ensure that carriers and providers do not exploit the patients’ lack of understanding. 

Concerns and Surprises in Medical Billing
Jesse is deeply concerned about the limited resources available to patients navigating the healthcare system. “Carriers and providers have many resources to ensure they collect money, deny claims, and maximize profits, while the patient is a lone person with few resources and knowledge to combat the fraud,” he explains. 

Life Beyond HealthLock
Outside of work, Jesse enjoys ping pong, swimming, walking, DIY home improvements, and cooking. He cherishes his time with his family, which includes his wife, five kids, and one grandchild. A funny story from his personal life involves a fishing trip where a friend accidentally hooked his hand. Despite the injury, Jesse left the hook in and continued fishing for four more hours, demonstrating his tenacity and sense of humor – and his coworkers and team members agree this shows through ALL the time..
